An Introduction to Environmental Education
This one-day workshop, developed for pre-service elementary teachers, can be tailored to meet the needs of individual universities. The workshop includes both an indoor, preparatory segment as well as an outdoor, hands-on segment. The workshop covers:
- Theory into Practice: Using a framework for Environmental Education in your lesson planning
- Behavior Management in the Outdoor Classroom
- Sample activities cover both Earth and Life Science standards.
- Strategies for incorporating reading and writing into science.
- Introduction to available resources (i.e, Project Learning Tree).
All activities are correlated with the Alabama Course of Study Science and the National Science Standards.
Conducted by: Heather Montgomery. Ms. Montgomery has a BS in Biology and a MS in Environmental Education. She has worked in the field for over 10 years, has written the complete curriculum for two environmental education facilities and worked with hundreds of teachers to create effective learning experiences for their students.
